8 Ways to Style Leopard Print Without Looking WILD

Hi friends!

If you’ve been following me, even for a short period of time- you know I’m way too obsessed with leopard print right now.

One thing I’ve had a lot of gals say to me tho is something along the lines of: “That looks so cute on you, but I’m scared to try leopard print- I don’t want to look crazy or wild!”

I totally get this. There can be a fine line for leopard print between lookin’ cute and drawing attention in an unwanted way.

So I’ve compiled a list of ways to wear leopard print- for people new to this print and for seasoned veterans- LOL

1. Make sure the background is a solid color

Let’s start with the basics…. When buying leopard print, make sure to follow this rule!

This may not have always been the case with wearing leopard print, but nowadays, go for the solid background.

2. Keep the print consistent

Notice on the left, the spots are basically all the same, a few differences, but they are consistent, making it a fun, almost whimsical print.

On the right, the prints are very different, and even with the solid background, it still makes me feel uneasy LOL.

3. Start small

Sometimes you just have to start small. And that is OK! Try a leopard print headband, or scrunchie!

4. Start at the bottom

Another easy way to ease into leopard print is with a shoe. Try a pointed toe flat or a round toe Mary Jane heel out for size. I think you’ll love it!

5. Start with an unexpected color scheme

Maybe you’re not into the generic black and tan leopard print… try an unexpected color combo like gray and black or gray and blue. The pop of color may be what you need to get the ball rollin’ on your new obsession!

6. Start with a bag

Technically, you’re not wearing it if it’s a bag, but this is a great way to add print and make a small statement without looking wild!

7. Wear it as a base layer

If you’ve graduated from just wearing a leopard print scrunchie- try a leopard print dress or skirt and add a leather jacket and boots or a denim jacket and pumps.

8. Wear it as your top layer with a solid base

You could also do the reverse of #7 and wear a solid base with your statement leopard piece on top.

BONUS TIP: How cute is my mom with a pop of color under her leopard print cardigan?! So classy!

How do YOU wear leopard print? Was this helpful?

  1. I wear my leopard flats like they are a neutral. They go with black or brown, they make an excellent print mix partner, and they dress up any outfit.

  2. I love this post because I hear this a lot too! This is really helpful, and I’m definitely going to have to pin it 😉 I love leopard print too, and just got a new leopard print shirt lol But yeah, some of it does look a little crazy!
