A Simple Maxi Dress Styled 3 Ways

Versatility is high up on my list of reasons to buy something. Is it on yours? If the cost per wear can be stretched out, I’m all about it!

Halftee is a company that I’ve been raving about since almost day one of my blogging, and when they came to me and challenged me to style 1 dress for three very different occasions, I was so stinkin’ excited, you guys!

This dress is simple, comes in 5 colors, sizes S – 3X, and is under $30.

I’m wearing a size Medium in the dress. I could have done a Small, but I was worried about it being clingy so that’s why I sized up- I’d say use your judgement on how you typically order items like this, but over-all it is true to size and the dress has stretch to it.

I was challenged to style it 3 ways.

  1. For church, styled with a halftee.
  2. Casual, a day at the park or out and about.
  3. As a swimsuit cover up at the beach.

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!

I chose the heather gray maxi because I figured I could pair pops of color with it, or keep it neutral very easily.

Challenge #1:

I paired the maxi with a black elegant cap sleeve halftee and added a skinny black belt to give the dress a little bit of shape. Paired with classic black open-toed heels, this look is comfortable but very classy! You can even add a little bolero as well.

Challenge #2:

I love the look of maxi dresses and skirts tied up on one side. It’s so cute, in my opinion! I added a braided belt and olive green ball cap.

It was a little windy on this day, so I paired the maxi with a 3/4 sleeve halftee.

But if tying it up is not your thing, it looks cute without as well!

Challenge #3:

Beach Day! I think this is a really great material for a day at the beach and definitely for vacation in a warm place! To keep up with my modesty standards I still like full coverage on my shoulders, but this dress paired great with this swim top, and you could even tie the dress up here too!

For anyone interested, I found the swim top on Poshmark, but it is Land’s End Brand and it’s a Full Coverage Tankini Top. I am wearing a size 8 here. I would say they run a bit small (I’d probably normally be a size 4).

How cool is it that ONE dress can take you from the Beach to Church? Haha (not recommended) but seriously!

I hope you enjoyed this post. Which look was your favorite? How would you style this dress?

Thanks for reading!

  1. Hi Taylor! I’ve been keeping up with your blog pretty much since you started. It’s always interesting to hear how people deal with how to be modest in a world that teaches us other wise. You’re doing a great job!

A request for another post, would you be able to do a review or ideas for modest swimming costumes? This is something that has always put me off going swimming as its even harder than finding a good dress as you can’t really just layer up a costume…

Many thanks and all the best!

    1. Hi Angela! Wow, thank you so much for following along all these years! Thank you for the post request, I’ll see what I can work up for you! Keep an eye out for one this summer!
