How To: Style the Black Midi Skirt – 3 ways
Hello fashionable ladies! Happy leap day! I hope February treated you well. I’m sure most of you are looking forward to March and spring flowers. I know I am!
Today I’m going to share a few ideas on how to style a black midi skirt. I think this is a classic piece that can fit into all women’s wardrobes no matter their style.
This black skirt was a steal at one of my local consignment shops. It still had the ($119) tag on it and I only paid $20!!
One of the reasons I really like midi style skirts is because of their flattering shape and comfort. I feel more confident and comfortable in something like this than a pencil skirt any day.
With black, it’s versatile and carries you through every season. It’s classy but can very easily be dressed down.
Outfit 1
This was the first outfit I put together with my skirt and I think it’s still my all time favorite. I got the blue collared shirt at the thrift store, the tan sweater at another local consignment shop and the shoes I already had.
This look is preppy yet classic and could be toned down with a ponytail, nixing the fake pearls and grabbing tan flats.
Outfit 2
For this black Skirt combo, I wore A simple long sleeved cotton tee that had a silk looking detail on the neckline and gray plaid Nine West pumps that I scored on ThredUP. (Click the link for $10 off your first purchase – I’m sure the black midi skirt of your dream is waiting there for you. hehe) I added a statement necklace to pull it all together.
Outfit 3
For my ladies that like to keep it casual, I think this look is so classy but not unreasonable. Your favorite pointy toe flats and your most reliable white tee will pull this look together in a cool, crisp, clean way that is not high maintenance.
White tee modesty hack: with this white top, I put white tank top half tee underneath and wear a high waisted garment on bottom.

Keep on keeping on,
Love that first outfit! I’ve made a mental note to add those pieces to my wardrobe 😉 I have a black midi skirt that is so fun to wear. Sometimes I feel like it can feel too formal but I like how you can make it casual by changing the top and shoes.
Yay! Those pieces are SO versatile and that’s just what I love about the skirt as well 🙂
Great outfits! I have the same leopard print hangers as you:)
Thank you! I bet you love those hangers as much as I do! haha 🙂
Grey is lovely on you ! What a great midi skirt with the sheerish layer – I love it !
Thank you, Leticia! You’re so sweet 🙂
