Sneakers for Spring

Have you noticed that there are basically no rules to fashion anymore?

It’s so funny to me that at one point in time if your purse didn’t match your shoes, you were the definition of fashion faux pas.

Basically anything goes now- at least for the world. But when it comes to Modest Fashion, I think that tidiness and looking put together is still important. So I wanted to share with you a more modern trend and how to keep it looking sleek, stylish and most importantly modest.

BEHOLD ~ you can now wear sneakers with anything!

I think it’s important to know how to mix and match this trend.

SHOES:

  • Choose a slim silhouette
  • Keep the color neutral
  • Have fun with the laces ~ you can tie them or tuck the ends in and have an even sleeker look.

DRESS/SKIRT:

  • Just below the knee
  • Midi styles are good too ~ just watch the shoes on these, make sure they are very sleek.
  • Coordinate with your shoes so they don’t look completely out of place.

Here I’m wearing Nike Court Vision Sneakers, I chose a slim fit dress with a chunkier sneaker in a neutral color:

These Tommy Hilfiger Sneakers looked “matchy matchy” but in my opinion, in an acceptable way. My grandma picked them up at Goodwill and I’ve had several people threaten to steal them LOL ~ I would check Poshmark for something like these! But here is a link as well to a similar pair.

Also, This is the dress above! I found it on the clearance rack at Kohl’s for under $30 and I think it’s the perfect style dress to wear with sneaks!

You can also wear sneaks with skirts! I am living in this style lately!

If my shoes are kind of chunky, I will lace them up to have a slim silhouette. They style well with both an a-line, flowy skirt and a straight midi skirt if they have a neutral color pallet.

Would you wear sneakers with a dress or skirt?

I hope this gives you some fun outfit ideas for spring!

XOXO ~ Taylor

  1. I LOVE that floral dress you’re wearing! And yes, this is becoming my favorite style lately! I love how comfy the sneakers are compared to other shoes. And it just makes a dress more practical looking for everyday! I love the Jellypop sneakers that I have, since they do fit your foot so well. Also, I have seen movies that are set back and it was like the women were already doing this…why did it take us so long to catch on?? haha!

    1. Hi Amanda! Thank you so much! The skirt is Lululemon and looks like it is sold out on their site but it is called the “Time to Flounce” skirt. If you search that on Poshmark you should find some for sale there! The shoes are platform Vans. Have a great day!
