Project Closet Purge: Part 2

The deed has been done. ^^This is just the stuff I consigned. I donated 5 large bags as well. Here is a highlight of major things I got rid of: -5 pairs of Boots. I invested in two pair of leather riding boots on the New Years Day Dillard’s sale. A pair of black and a pair of brown. I consigned my others and the pair of booties that I just purchased in August were unfortunately the MOST uncomfortable pair of boots ever and I decided to consign them. I’ve made up in my mind that there will be no […]

How To: Double Your Dresses without Spending a Dime

First off, what do you guys think of my new LOGO!!?! Catherine of Design and Curiosity did the sweetest write up of the making of my logo. Go check it out HERE! I’m totally obsessed with her work and if you are in the market for any type of design work- inquire with her! She worked with me and created graphics that really represent what I want Modest Blondie to be about. Here are a few of the secondary logos she created for me… aren’t they fun?! OK. Now to fashion-y stuffs. Recently (with my crazed purging) I’ve been experimenting […]

Project Closet Purge: Part 1

I was not kidding when I said I am constantly purging my closet. So, better a little late than never to document my attempt to move to a more minimalist closet. My husband kind of looked at me and smiled when I asked if he noticed I was getting rid of a lot of stuff. His response was kind yet vague. LOL. A typical mans response I guess. I did notice, and I don’t know what’s going on so I’m not gonna say anything. But he also related to the fact that it is very difficult to get rid of […]

On Trend: Black and Tan

In my opinion, black and tan are two of the most elegant color combos out there. Cheetah print, for example has managed to stand the test of time with these iconic colors and I don’t care what anyone says; if you wear it tastefully, you are never too old for cheetah! :-) This look could probably be recreated fairly easily with items already in your closet. And the bag, well, we can all dream, but a black or brown one would go just fine! I actually purchsed the boots shown here in black on the online Dillard’s New Year’s Day […]

Welcoming a Decluttered 2016

Lately I’ve been reading minimalist columns and articles on how to create a capsule wardrobe. Somehow, some way my closet usually ends up in a frenzy of organized chaos. The idea of a minimalist wardrobe is really really appealing to me for some reason and yet I know that reasonably this is in no way something that happens over night. To convert to the minimalist approach from where I currently am would take serious self control (you probably know where I’m coming from if you read my post on Shopping Self Control)  and discipline and even MORE purging although lately […]

Modest Holiday Outfit Inspiration

I’m probably a little bit late on the holiday outfit inspiration post, but for me, I always feel like the day comes and I’m like what on earth am I gonna wear?! So hopefully this will help you out a little bit when you’re standing in your closet racking your brain for something cute, yet not over the top, yet stretchy in every way possible because pie. Just. Pie. We also don’t want to have to purchase a one time deal outfit that we will never wear again, so my inspiration is going to consist of simple items that hopefully […]

How To: Wear Purple w/o Looking like a Member of the Red Hat Society

We all have an item (or items) in our closet that we look at and seriously contemplate the level of sanity we had at the time of purchase. For me, this consists largely of two colored pieces… yellow (because I’m so pale it’s not even funny so why even try) and purple. I love purple things but when I get home with the lovely color it always seems like I have NOTHING to wear with it. IDK. Weird. My Grandma always comments about how ‘old lady’ of a color it is and refuses to wear it. But I’d like to […]

The Tough Stuff: Shopping Self Control

Lately I’ve been struggling in the self control department when it comes to shopping. Throughout the holiday season I get hundreds of emails advertising sales and promotions from the low-end to the higher-end stores. It’s so tempting to splurge and indulge on these physical things especially when everyone else seems to be doing it. And there is nothing wrong with doing so… in moderation. I think that the modest woman strives to have self control in all aspects of her life. Obviously we can always do better at something and that’s OK. That’s being human. I’m sharing this not to […]

On Trend: The Blanket Scarf

Guys, I gave in. I couldn’t pass up the $4.50 Apt. 9 blanket scarf I scored with my Kohl’s cash this weekend. Needless to say I don’t feel that bad about it. It’s officially the coolest and most versatile fall scarf! Now, if people start tying baby blankets with little bears and giraffes on them around their necks you can count me out… but the blanket scarf in plaid… yes please! In this post I’ve shown you two different ways to style this scarf. One, more dressy and ‘holiday-y’ and one more casual and business appropriate. I kept the color […]

The Tough Stuff: Hearts and Hemlines (Part 1)

I’ve decided (very last minute) to make this a multi-part topic. There is a lot to cover when talking about this, and a lot to consider. I encourage you to read my other posts for some context on this because I’ve dabbled in this area in previous posts but not like this. Please share your thoughts or questions. Feel free to comment or email me privately. I apologize if it seems a bit scattered, sometimes it is difficult to focus on just one area because it is part of a much bigger whole- so bear with me :-). Today I […]
