3 Valentine’s Day Inspired Looks & 3 “Anti” Valentine’s Day Looks

Hi there, Valentine! 😉

Today is February 1st! And for some of you that might be super excitinggggg and for some, not so much. And that is OK.

Last week on Instagram I shared that I would be blogging 3 Valentine’s Day inspired outfits, and 3 “Anti” – Valentine’s Day inspired outfits. Hehe.

Now I promise I didn’t dress up like Joan Jett. The “anti’s” are very wearable and still cute. A lot of black is involved, but if you’ve been reading my blog for any period of time you know I love black. lol So it’s all good!

I personally love February. Everything is pink and shaped like hearts. And honestly, I can totally dig that. Plus CHOCOLATE. I mean, if you aren’t a fan of this greeting card holiday atleast buy a box of chocolate. Or better yet, I will buy you a box of chocolate 😉

OK, let’s start with an “Anti” shall we? 🙂

I actually love this look and it’s really similar to the outfit I wore here.

ALSO! A word about these jeans! I have finally found a brand/size/style of “skinny” jeans that I feel I can wear modestly! These are Kensie Brand “Knockout Skinny” jeans. I know what you’re thinking! But I went up a size from what I normally buy and they fit great! They retail on the site for $58 but I found mine at a T.J.Maxx for $19.99. I also bought them in black, tan, and olive green! haha. I HANG DRY them to make sure they stay loose fitting but I really really love them!

And now, for it’s Valentine’s Day loving counter part… 😉

I LOVE this red cable knit sweater! It’s a great staple piece for winter and it goes well with black 😉 haha! And of course, I had to add a girly bow in my hair!!!

OH! And if you haven’t read my post from Monday, check it out! My earrings are leather from Nickel and Suede!

If you’re not a Valentine’s day person.. for whatever reason, you could just go totally neutral and pretend like you have no clue what day it is- wear olive green and brown! Because that is definitely not valentine-y!

Also, this is how I styled one of my epic barettes (tutorial here!)

BUT if you do want to show your festivity, maybe not in an obnoxious way…you could play it classy for work- subtle but show the love 😉

I paired a red dress shirt (from thredUP – duh) with black dress pants and boots (also from thredUP) and a cute cardigan/jacket thing. LOL

MAYBE you don’t HATE Valentine’s day, you just don’t want to dress like an obnoxious blogger you know (ahem- that Modest Blondie, what will we ever do with her?!) Play it cool with polka dots and dress jean trousers. (Both of these also from thredUP) 😀

OK- but MAYBE you just want to be obnoxious! Like some people go all out for New Year’s Eve but your thing… your thing is VALENTINE’S DAY!

I say- go for it! Lipstick scarves and heart shaped crossbody bags for EVERYONE!!! (Found these items at Charming Charlie but cold not find a link) <3

So!  Are you A Valentine’s Day Lover… or Hater? Hehe 🙂

What is your go-to look for February 14th?

keep on keeping on…

  1. Hi Taylor! I recently found your blog and I love it! These looks are so cute! I’m tempted to try those jeans you mentioned! What other jeans have you found fit modestly?

    1. Hi Kat!
I’m so glad you like reading my blog! The jeans I mentioned really are my favorite ‘skinny’ jeans, but I have also found that bootcut jeans from Banana Republic and Madewell fit modestly as well. I’ve accepted the fact that I pretty much have to jgo up a size in all jeans because they are just made to fit so tight these days.
      Thanks so much for reading!

  2. I love Valentine’s! For the same reason you stated…hearts and pink stuff everywhere! lol Also, it’s an opportunity to get fresh flowers, and who doesn’t love that?? I will definitely be taking every opportunity to wear pink this month! lol

  3. All of these outfits are lovely! I really like that the “anti” and V-day themed outfits are all wearable and not too kitschy. The kitschiest item is the heart-shaped purse, and it’s absolutely adorable! I want one now.

Happy Valentine’s Day to you and your boo, Taylor 🙂

  4. This is such a fun post! I’m kind of neutral when it comes to Valentines Day…I’d wear pink for the occasion, but nothing too crazy. 🙂 Your outfits are super cute, though!
