After-Christmas Cleanout

Wow- 2017. Craziness. I hope that all of my lovely readers had great holidays and that 2017 will be your best year yet.

I’m on my continued mission of a decluttered closet. And if you have been following my Project Closet Purge posts, you know exactly what I mean.

A couple of days after Christmas I totally cleaned out and organized all my makeup. Wow- is that a good feeling or what!?

Yes… I do have a mascara problem. No, I will not stop. 😛

Ok moving right along…

This year I’m going to try something a little different with my closet though. I’ve seen this idea on Pinterest before and you probably have too but I’m going to go for it.

Yesterday (I was three days late but whatever) I turned all of the hangers in my closet in the opposite direction. As I wear each piece, when it is returned to the rack, the hanger will be hung the correct way. In a few months (some sources say June) but honestly whenever I get the urge, I’m going to evaluate all of the pieces still hanging the opposite direction and decide whether it should be donated, consigned, or given as a hand-me-down.

I’ve said this before and it is still true; During all of the holiday sale rushes I have a hard time saying no to hugely discounted items like sweaters and oh my, do I ever have a jacket problem. I want to buy all of the jackets. And all the boots. Ugh. I know, it’s terrible.

Anyways, I am hoping that by turning each hanger in my closet the oppo direction, I will 1) get a refresher of all the great pieces in my closet. 2) hopefully purge a few dupes and known items that I just don’t wear anymore, and 3) fix any out of place pieces in terms of color (yes I DO color code my clothes.. go ahead and judge me :-P)

SO, do YOU have any after-Christmas purge goals? Any wardrobe goals for 2k17? I’d love to hear allllll about them and I’d love to know if you have any blog post suggestions for winter styles or outfits. Let me know below!

Keep on keeping on…

  1. I need to re-organize my closet but I literally hate that job lol! And I’m the worst about getting rid of stuff! For one thing, I have a chronic illness, so I never know when I’m going to lost/gain weight. So I hate getting rid of stuff that doesn’t fit, because sometimes it will fit again! And then there are also so many things in my closet that I won’t wear in forever, but come back to it one day and see it with new eyes, and it become my favorite lol So yeah, I have a problem lol!

  2. I am going to try this too! I am to committing to not buying any new clothes(unless absolutely necessary)to break my tend to splurge all the time, so i think this will help challenge me to use some items i haven’t in a long time and get creative.
