What to Wear to a Wedding

This post is a tad late for all the June weddings out there but hopefully this will help some of you July and beyond wedding guests 🙂

In my opinion choosing an outfit for attending a wedding is so hard! Will I be comfortable? Will I accidentally match the bridal party? Will it be hot or cold in the venue?!

So, we all know the cardinal sin of wearing white to a wedding when you’re not the bride. BUT. You can wear beige, tan, khaki, whatever you call it-this does not violate the rules! YAY!!

If you know me even a little bit-you know about my love for all things black and tan. The look above is classy and elegant, not to mention fuss free! Also, you can swap heels out for classic black flats (pointy toed would look lovely) which makes it versatile as well:)

Going along with the ‘no white’ rule; the following is very much my own personal opinion but I really think that even a printed dress that is mainly white is just not wedding guest attire appropriate. This is not because I think of myself so highly as an honored guest that I think I would take away from the Bride but it’s simply a matter of respect in my opinion.

However, a beautiful light blue or pastel pink floral dress would be just beautiful. Also, bringing along a light shawl or shrug is a good idea with any of these outfits.

Another route you could go with wedding attire is a one piece jumpsuit! Paired with strappy sandals and long jewelry, this look is definitely comfy and especially flattering on an hourglass/full figure.

Next up – Maternity Style Wedding Attire may be even tougher I imagine because comfort is a key factor. I suggest a cotton maxi dress with make an accent piece like a scarf or statement necklace. Paired with flats or wedges.

Lastly, I think there may be a common misconception that you can’t wear black to a wedding – but you CAN! Black is classy and chic and elegant. This my friends is called a ‘fit and flare’ dress. It literally will look good on ANY ONE WITH ARMS AND LEGS! Just sayin. A classy kitten heel in a neutral or maybe a red will really complete this look.

Well! I hope this has been helpful and informative!

Let me know your thoughts below! Do you have any weddings to attend this year?

Keep on keeping on…

  1. I think that tan/khaki color would be perfect for a wedding! Personally, black would be my first choice because of how elegant it is! But, I’m not going to any weddings this summer lol
