#BramblewoodThrifted Blog Event (Day 2) – My Lazy Weekend Look/The return of the ‘Mom Jean’

YAY! For day #2 of Bramblewood Fashion’s Blog Event – #BramblewoodThrifted! I’m enjoying seeing my fellow bloggers talk about their favorite thrifted pieces and getting a taste of spring with the outfits I’m posting! 🙂

I’m not going to lie to you. If you type in ‘mom jeans’ on Pinterest, you get a very interesting (and slightly scary), array of women styling mom jeans. Paired with stilettos and crop tops all the way to grandpa cardigans and infinity scarves. I would like to think that my vision for wearing ‘mom jeans’ is HOPEFULLY somewhere sanely between those two extremes, but I guess you can determine that for yourself.

I will call this look my Lazy Weekend Look. Because I’m allowing myself to be lazy this weekend, I ate all of the Girl Scout cookies, and my husband kind of digs this look so it’s a win win win I’d say. Plus this is definitely nothing like I dress during the week, so for my more casual readers this is a bit of fresh air.

I started Pinteresting for ‘loose jean looks’ after my ‘size complex conundrum‘. There aren’t a ton of modest ones out there. Like I said before, these women were styling their modest mom jeans with crop tops and sky high heels. How was I going to figure this out? Where was I going to find my vintage Levi 501’s everyone is raving about? If you’ve been following spring fashion at all, the vintage Levi 501’s are a very coveted item- and especially for me because they are MODEST! (without having to go up 3 sizes!) Shocker- I know.

When I saw that these jeans are about $80 retail, I started scouring thredUP ($10 off your first order plus they are running 20% off the entire site this weekend with code:’20SAVINGS’)daily just in case I found something. And, to my delight, a week ago I found a comparable to Levi 501’s pair of 100% cotton Gap Factory ‘mom jeans’ or boyfriend jeans. Technical terms are hard.

Here is a chart in case you don’t believe me via mashable.com:

I’m also going to call this my Luke Danes look (for all my Gilmore Girls fans out there) I think I’m just missing a backwards baseball cap and a mean look on my face.

I did the fold and roll to these jeans like I did in my J.Crew post earlier this week because I didn’t really like the cut of these jeans on my legs. They fell at exactly the worst spot possible. Paired with converse this is casual and easy. This is a Gap body black t-shirt and a Hot Commodesty flannel called the ‘Lumberjack Plaid’ (I really dig their shop, check it out if you haven’t- the name alone is killer). The Converse I’m wearing were yet another DSW find, the bag is a ‘Davey’s USA’ leather purse that I thrifted for $7.50 and my wrap bracelet I picked up for $1 at a yard sale last summer!

My husband and I went and ran a few errands this morning. I know they say you start looking like your spouse after being married for so long but no one told me you started dressing like them! (If you’ve seem my husband even once, you probably know he’s always in a flannel.) Lol. Oh well.

Happy Saturday, every one!

Keep on keeping on!
