On Trend: The Blanket Scarf

Guys, I gave in. I couldn’t pass up the $4.50 Apt. 9 blanket scarf I scored with my Kohl’s cash this weekend.

Needless to say I don’t feel that bad about it. It’s officially the coolest and most versatile fall scarf! Now, if people start tying baby blankets with little bears and giraffes on them around their necks you can count me out… but the blanket scarf in plaid… yes please!

In this post I’ve shown you two different ways to style this scarf. One, more dressy and ‘holiday-y’ and one more casual and business appropriate.

I kept the color scheme pretty ‘matchy matchy’ in the first outfit but I think it flowed pretty well and was super simple to put together. There wasn’t a ton of layering that needed to be done, which is good because I mean come on, I’m already wearing a blanket around my neck…

I paired this red/maroon, blue, green, and white plaid blanket scarf with an Elle brand red midi skirt from last year’s holiday collection at Kohl’s, a simple Gap brand navy blue long sleeve, and Bandalino booties from DSW.

IMG_1408I simply folded the scarf diagonally in half and wrapped each end around my neck like a cowboy handkerchief.

Now, for a more casual, yet business appropriate look, I paired a maroon top with grey dress pants and a jean jacket for extra warmth.

I tied the scarf the same way (because I’m boring and was running too late to try something different).

I’ve also decided that this will be the best Thanksgiving scarf. It’s big enough to hide my pumpkin pie food baby, steal extra dinner rolls, and wrap up on the couch to take a nap in… WIN WIN WIN!

But seriously…

Here is a link to the scarf at Kohl’s.

Have you given in to the blanket scarf trend yet? How do you style it?!

Have a safe Thanksgiving, all!

Keep on keeping on,

  1. No, I haven’t tried out the blanket scarf trend. I love the way they look, but I think it’d be annoying to have something so big around my neck.
Your outfits are so cute! I really like the first one.
    Happy Thanksgiving!

    1. Virginia,

Thank you! You’re so sweet. I know what you mean, there are a lot of cool ways to tie the scarf that I haven’t tried that are probably less bulky. A cool way I saw was basically like a wrap and you tie a belt around your waist to create sleeves, Haven’t tried it but it sounds cool!

      Happy Thanksgiving!

  2. Your post inspired me to get a blanket scarf (a different pattern from Kohl’s) and I LOVE it! The bonus is that it will make a perfect cover to be a little more modest when nursing my baby at holiday parties next week – just pull it off and unfold, no need to go track down my diaper bag when he gets fussy!
